Best Tressed | The 65th Emmy Awards 2013
I love Award shows because I love seeing the stars on the red carpet. You would probably agree, the 65th Emmy Awards 2013 did not disappoint. The artwork and glamour on the red carpet was truly spectacular… I was like a kid in a candy shop staring at the TV screen in awe and wonder.
Award shows are such a great source of inspiration for the bridal industry. Hairstyles from the red carpet often find themselves on brides-to-be… and it’s no wonder really. There are always new styles of gowns, hair and accessories to admire and to draw inspiration from.
I couldn’t resist… I had to pull together my best of selections from the recent 65th Emmy Awards! You may also noticed a little colour trend that seems to take my fancy. I’m loving blush pink tones at the moment. It’s so hard not to!
So, here goes:
Best Lipstick and Hair – Katharine McPhee
Katharine wore an elegant blush pink Georges Hobeika dress and Casadei shoes. The floral embroidered top and simple flowing skirt with a modest train looked amazing against her understated make up, vibrant matte red lipstick and beautiful relaxed sideswept waves. Jewellery was kept simple with trendy Norman Silverman earrings and a collection of simple rings.
Best dress with lace and embellishment – Laura Dern
Laura looked ravishing in a Naeem Khan coral embellished gown. The art deco inspired gown looked great with tousled waves and minimal accessories. The detail of the beading up close is quite phenomenal and I think the peek-a-boo style top will be a popular for brides and bridesmaids for the season ahead.
Best dress – Julie Bowen – an amazing colour and shape!
Julie looked amazing in the light pink trumpet style Zac Posen gown. Julie added a little sparkle with accessories and a sophisticated up-do to complete the look. I think it’s fair to say Zac Posen is the master when it comes to creating beautiful gowns.
Best vintage curls – January Jones
January brought back old school Emmy glam with a mid-century inspired bob. Other ‘curl’ honorable mentions include Rose Byrne’s romantic curls and Kerry Washington’s finger waves.
Best buttons on a dress – Carrie Preston
Carrie’s Romona Keveza dress was a classic choice, the top to bottom buttons were a gorgeous finish and black with white is always a striking choice.
Do tell, which dress was your favourite? Did you have a favourite look?
