Decadent Details | Art deco wedding inspiration
I have always loved the Art Deco era and my passion for the Roaring 20’s intensified when I saw the Great Gatsby. It’s a tragic story but the glamour of the era is captivating. Not too long after I saw the movie, Scarlett Johansson announced her engagement to Romain Dauriac by showing her absolutely amazing art deco engagement ring. I can’t wait to see if the ring choice is a reflect of the wedding they have in mind.
I love a well-styled wedding but finding the balance of the era while keeping the feel modern and relevant is all about introducing a few vintage inspired pieces to set the tone.
To me the Gatsby era is all about clean lines, modern geometric shapes and stunning old world glamour. These elements can be incorporated into the event with the stationery, table settings and even through the choice of location. The art deco style is all about a strong look that is masculine but still elegant. It is a style that can be beautifully classic and unlike many wedding styles it isn’t too feminine, which is nice for the groom.

Art deco style gowns and accessories are showered with intricate beading and magnificent gems. It would be easy to get ‘F Scott Fitzgerald’ carried away with the opulence but if you love the 1920s look but don’t want your wedding to seem ‘themed’ you can introduce elements of art deco while not making every aspect of it Gatsby inspired. I think it is about seamlessly balancing some vintage pieces with other pieces that aren’t era centric. We hope you love this collection of old world glamour pieces that would look beautiful at a wedding.
