Glorious Green | Emerald green wedding inspiration
We are nearing the end of 2013 and there’s just 2 months left before we celebrate the New Year. This year we’ve seen so many beautiful trends and accents that have captivated and inspired us all but one of my favourites was the colour emerald colour palette, declared as Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2013.
Emerald green has a strong association to the precious gems that emulate sophistication and luxury. The gemstone is said to inspire well-being and promote balance and harmony. In my opinion, all great elements for a beautiful wedding day! Popular among brides is choosing a vintage style or sustainability focus for their wedding day and the colour emerald green can compliment this beautifully.

But if emerald on its own is a bit too much, blend it with neutral tones of rustic silver , monochromatic or as the key colour theme against wedding whites, ivories and creams. Emerald green is the most abundant hue present in nature so a garden wedding is likely to include a lively, lush and radiant emerald backdrop, even without trying.
Last year’s Pantone colour of the year was Tangerine Tango and we saw this bold and energised colour explode in popularity in both fashion and interiors. Emerald green is no different; there has definitely been a big shift in selecting emerald green on the red carpet and scanning through images on Pinterest and in magazines. Emerald captures our attention because it is a powerful colour and for centuries has been chosen to represent healing, unity and rejuvenation.
Although we’re slowly moving into 2014, I’m sure emerald green will continue to make its way into the wedding colour palettes next year.
