Modern Manes | Planning for Soft and Romantic Wedding Hair
Stiff hair really has no place on your wedding day. But you do want your hair to last the distance, so you look as stunning in the very last photos of the evening as you do in the first!
Since starting Percy Handmade, I’ve learned a trick or two for keeping your locks luscious, whether you’re planning on wearing your hair loose and romantic, or in a structured up-do. Here are some of the tricks of the trade.
1. Match your hairstyle to the weather
An updo is always going to last longer than loose curls, especially if you’re getting married in summer – but that doesn’t mean you have to forgo something soft and whimsical. Talk to your hairstylist about the frizz factor, and what products or tools they can use to cater to the climate.
2. Consider your timeframes
Long day? Go for a style that will last the distance, like a beautiful braid, ballerina bun or a chignon. If your heart is set on wearing your hair soft, ask your stylist to add more curl than you would usually wear. Your curls will drop the longer you wear them.
3. Have a backup plan
If you do wear your hair down, ask your bridesmaids to keep a stash of bobby pins in case you decide to pin your curls into a bun mid-dance.
4. Book a hair trial
Test out your hairstyle before your big day to see how it feels and also how long it lasts. This is really important. Work with the stylist who’s going to be doing your hair on your wedding day to use the same products, and ideally the same accessories. You’ll learn just as much about what you do like as what you don’t.
