Show Stoppers | OSCARS 2014 – Wedding worthy dresses and hair
Brides-to-be were spoilt for inspiration with this year’s Oscars red carpet. We loved that so many starlets wore bridal shades of white, cream, blush, nude and ivory. And even more than that, we loved all the embellishments. There were sequins, beads, pearls, textured fabrics, applique flowers galore… it went on and on, and we loved every minute of it. There were so many wedding worthy gowns (and gorgeous hairstyles!) and it was hard to choose our favourites but here goes!
Maria (US TV personality) looked phenomenal in a beautiful beaded ivory coloured gown. We couldn’t go past the extra beaded detail around the shoulders, waist line and also the lower back. Truly, a work of art. And if that wasn’t enough, the gown had a low back and slight train which created an exquisite and inspiring silhouette. This dress was designed by homegrown talent Johanna Johnson. You might agree, it’s not surprising to see Johanna Johnson gowns on the red carpet… They are definitely Oscars worthy!
And then there was Sarah Paulson. Sarah looked amazing in her nude coloured Elie Saab Couture gown. Nude seems to be the colour of the moment and this elegant dress offered a conservative look that was also dazzling beyond words. We think the ¾ sleeve would be perfect for a wedding ceremony in a traditional venue with its simple waist which created a classic silhouette. Sarah accessorised her look with a simple bob hairstyle and beautiful Piaget jewellery. We love that she kept her accessories simple and stylish!
Calista looked classically beautiful in her ivory Andrew Gn gown. The textured fabric and the extra detailing around the bodice and shoulders were a feast for the eyes. We adore the casual elegance of the cap sleeve and the way the dress was paired beautifully with statement earrings and a simple clutch.
This dress was very similar to Naomi Watt’s beaded Calvin Klein gown. What we loved about Naomi’s style was placing her statement Bvlgari necklace over the high necklace of the dress; a gorgeous choice.
The Oscar winner was on every best-dressed list with her floral embellished Giorgio Armani gown. Another fan of the neutral hue, Cate’s dress was the perfect balance of ethereal delicacy whilst still making a bold statement. Adorned with countless sparkles onto a fine net fabric, we loved that there was no clear neck or shoulder seams creating a visual masterpiece.
Obviously there was many more beautiful gowns to chat about but let us know your favourites. Were there any dresses that have you bridal inspired?
