Ravishing Roses | Soft pink silk flowers on the workbench
There’s a few different projects underway behind the scenes at the moment, one of which involves these pretty pink silk flowers we which only just finished recently in the studio. I couldn’t help myself and had to take a few close up photos because we’re just a little bit in love with these blushing beauties!
Still very much a work in progress, these pink silk flowers will be formed into a stunning halo bursting with flowers in this soft shade of pink with olive green stems. Oh I can’t wait to share with you all the final pics.
I love creating silk flowers and turning something a simple as a sheet of plain silk fabric into something bursting with life. Each flower has been individually handcrafted from silk fabric which has been stiffened and treated to avoid fraying, hand cut, hand dyed, hand formed with millinery tools and then assembled to create these blooms. They’re a really lovely size too – ranging from 2-3.5 inches in diameter. I think they would also work beautifully in a pretty comb too, positioned to the side of a bun or maybe just above a hair bun!
And one thing I really, really love about these flowers is they’re still buttery soft yet sturdy when handled. You know how you find those faux flowers in the stores that are really stiff and almost plastic-like? Ahh not these. Not at all, these little babies feel so luxurious to touch and will retain their shape for many, many years to come.
