Majestic Magnolias | Silk magnolia flowers
I love magnolia flowers. My love for them started when I was just a child when my mother used to tell me stories about the giant magnolia trees that were growing near our house. I remember they were the most beautiful shade of white and there was also a purple and white variety that always caught my eye.
Growing up, I started to fall in love with pink magnolias flowers. I came across them rarely but when I did, I always wish I had a camera on hand to take a few photos. They’re so warm and inviting and strikingly sweet. There was always something magical and majestic about them as they blossomed upon their bare branches.
But to enjoy magnolia flowers, you have to endure a winter which isn’t always fun. I’m definitely not a winter girl. Give me spring, summer or autumn any day and I’m a happy girl. But one thing I love about winter is knowing that those bare branches in my garden will blossom into beautiful magnolia flowers in just a few months. I always consider the glorious floral display of magnolia flowers as a little reward for enduring the cold days.
I have been feeling inspired by the plants in my garden lately and I wanted to create some silk magnolia flowers inspired by my love for this stunning plant.
These gorgeous flowers are completely handmade from simple white fabric, a few petal templates I’ve been perfecting over the past few weeks, some vintage stamens, silk fabric dyes and florist tape. Oh, and lots and lots of time and patience!
I have so many more beautiful photos to share with you all of my recent adventures in silk flower land. These flowers are all inspired by the seasons so I hope you enjoy them. So many gorgeous colours on the way including some pretty apple blossoms…. I can’t wait to share them with you!
