An Evening in Florence

“Soft, romantic and gentle”, the three words bride Leona used to describe her vision for her delicate hair vine.  After months of dreaming and searching online, the loveliest Leona was in touch with us about a bespoke headpiece for her late April wedding.  Leona loved our use of clay flowers in our headpieces, particularly the EDEN, MARJORIE and CASSIA headpieces. She preferred a more simple design with a classic colour palette of ivory/soft silver tones.

A custom headpiece to suit Leona's wedding dress

To bring together Leona’s bridal look, she shared with us photos of her wedding dress which featured exquisite floral details embroidered onto a fine lace.  She also picked a classic and chic updo that perfectly accentuated the neckline on her dress.

Taking into account the delicate floral details on Leona’s dress and her classic hairstyle, we got to work dreaming up her special headpiece.

A custom delicate hair vine

The headpiece we designed for Leona featured a combination of clay flowers, including our smallest flowers yet. Delicate and dainty details were scattered along her piece in an organic and untamed manner. We complemented these fine florals with shimmering crystals and pearl accents to add texture.

Straight from the workbench, the ODE TO DUSK is a delicate bridal hair vine inspired by the beautiful tones of dusk.  This piece was lovingly designed for bride Jessica in warm and inviting tones of silver, rose gold and blush. We adore this colour palette because it’s equal parts romantic, chic and feminine.

In designing Jessica’s bridal hair vine, we drew inspiration from the TEAROSE hair pin. Jessica loved the details and colours of this piece but preferred a longer length and style to suit her bridal hairstyle. So we lengthened her piece by double and redesigned the layout to better suit the symmetry of her hairstyle. This beautiful piece is designed to be worn in the centre back of her head with a veil.

We love the simplicity of this hair vine and the organic nature of its elements. It would perfectly suit lace wedding gowns, structured modern gowns or soft and flowing silhouettes.

How to style this bridal hair vine

The ODE TO DUSK is a dainty piece that can be worn with or without a wedding veil, in half up hair or to adorn a bridal updo. The split comb system allows you to position a wedding veil in place and the headpiece on top for a look that’s seamless and effortless. You can simply remove the veil after the ceremony and wear the headpiece in your hair for the reception and evening festivities.

Customisable in various colours to suit you

The beauty of TEAROSE is in its feminine design, delicate details and beautiful colour combinations. This beautiful piece for Jessica would also work beautifully in silver/ivory, gold/ivory and gold blush tones.

Below you’ll find images of a silver/ivory version we recently created for bride Sarah.

Sometimes you find the prettiest bridal headpiece but it’s not quite right. It might be the colour, the size, or perhaps the way it’s designed isn’t 100% perfect for the vision you have in your head.

As wedding accessory designers, this is something we can completely understand and empathise with.  It’s exactly why we stand by our made to order and bespoke mandates.

We had the loveliest opportunity to work with Canadian bride Samantha to create a two-way bridal headpiece for her end May wedding day. Samantha loved the POETIC bridal headpiece but was looking for a headpiece which she could style in two different ways for her wedding ceremony and reception.

Customising Samantha's headpiece for her two bridal looks

For the ceremony, she was hoping to style it more as a headband at the top of her head. For the reception she was planning to wear it backwards to frame her bridal hairstyle.

We got to work on redesigning her headpiece so it was perfect for her two bridal looks. Wearing the same headpiece or accessory for both the ceremony and reception is a great way to get prolonged wear out of a piece. It also means that you can ensure continuity with details – i.e. you don’t have to change your earrings or other jewellery to match.

The delicate and organic details, as well as its boho chic styling, are just a few of the reasons why Samantha fell in love with the POETIC bridal headpiece the first place. So in redesigning Samantha’s piece, we wanted to ensure we retained the intrinsic nature and beauty of the piece.

To ensure the floral elements remained the perfect focal points of the piece, we repositioned the placement of the clay flowers to the sides for a more evenly distributed look.  We also scattered the delicate pearl and crystal elements along the mid section of the headpiece to ensure it could be styled with both looks.  It was a balancing act to ensure it didn’t look too bare in the mid section but we also didn’t take attention away from the clay flowers.

Samantha's ceremony bridal look

For her wedding ceremony, Samantha will be able to style her headpiece along the hair line as a headband by pinning the headpiece into place near the ears.

This beautiful look can still be paired with a wedding veil or pearl drop earrings, or even warn alone for a more simple look.

Samantha's reception bridal look

The headpiece attaches to the hair with little loops and Samantha’s hairstylist can easily position it into place with bobby pins hidden under the hair. By removing the bobby pins and flipping the headpiece to face backwards, Samantha is able to style her reception bridal look within a few minutes.

We love the look of this headpiece facing backwards and it would look gorgeous styled with half up/half down hairstyles or perhaps even all out hairstyles with soft curls.

We loved to work with bride Holly to create a rose gold bridal hair vine for her wedding day. Working with Holly was a dream, and it’s fair to say, the end result is even dreamier. The vision for Holly’s piece was a backwards facing headpiece in her favourite metal with a soft pink hue, and silver crystal elements with lots of sparkle.

To say we’re in love with her custom bridal hair vine is an understatement. Rose gold metals mixed with a soft whisper of silver details feel effortlessly elegant and luxurious.

There’s an ethereal quality to this piece which we find mesmerising and we’re thrilled Holly loves her piece too.

We love florals just as much as the next gal, but this botanical inspired piece feels fresh and feminine, without the flowers.

How to style Holly's bridal hair vine

Delicate headpieces suit a range of bridal looks – from soft and flowing feminine gowns to more structured lace wedding dresses. We also love to pair them with modern and sleek gowns when the hairstyle chosen is loose, soft and romantic.

The key to styling dainty headpieces is to ensure the piece complements the vibe of your wedding dress and hairstyle. Dainty doesn’t necessarily need to mean subtle. As our collection shows, there are many bold and statement-making pieces that are delicate in nature. It all comes down to it’s size, positioning and of course, the thoughtfulness of the details and tones incorporated into the design.

For a look that’s feminine and sophisticated, we love to style this piece at the back of the head to frame a half up hairstyle or loose curls. This piece is flexible and can be gently manipulated to the curve of a low set bridal bun.

The leaf elements and the direction of the crystal elements feel organic and fresh, like freshly grown vines growing out of a messy wedding updo or hairstyle.

As this piece creates a mood that’s quite whimsical and ethereal, we recommend styling it with loose soft curls rather than polished hairstyles.

Some brides set out on their wedding planning journey with a clear vision in mind. While others have a simple idea which gains focus and clarity as they discover each and every detail and element through searching, sampling and asking lots of questions.

We love to work with each of these brides. They push our creativity and ensure we produce the most gorgeous and longed for wedding accessories. At the end of the day, we want to see beautiful happy brides, feeling confident and lovely as they walk down their wedding aisles towards the loves of their lives.

A simple crystal vine bridal comb

Our bride Brenda came to us with a clear vision. She loved elements of our Ophelia, Camillia and Leona headpieces. She wanted something simple, forming a single line, that was exactly 7 inches long.

Drawing on the three headpieces, we created a crystal vine using silver wire, featuring sparkly crystal leaves and blush freshwater pearl floral accents to pick up the subtle pink tones in her wedding dress. It’s a single piece that weaves elegantly and naturally along the linear plane – just as a vine would.

Brenda plans to wear to hair out, and to pair the hair comb with a veil, so we constructed the piece around a split comb system. This will ensure it will not only stay in her hair, but helps create the ever sort after – and absolutely gorgeous – layered bridal comb and veil look.

Brenda – we just loved working with you and your clear vision! You have excellent style and we just know your wedding is going to be everything you’ve dreamed of and more. We can’t wait to see the photos soon.
