A fresh flower halo will always have its place on a wedding day. For some brides, the delicacy and fragrance of fresh flowers feel more special to them then a lasting keepsake. For other brides, the ability to pass on their halo has a different meaning which resonates with them.

There’s beauty and meaning in both option – your accessories are very much a reflection of your values, style and sensibilities. Go with what feels right for you.

Artisan design

Our brides choose us because they appreciate handcrafted pieces that celebrate artisan design and offer a meaning that resonates with her.  Our pieces tell a story that are unique to the design, reflect the brides who we design for and are of heirloom quality so she can pass on to future generations.

A bespoke gold wedding halo for Dubai bride Saba

We loved working with Dubai bride Saba to design a headpiece for her upcoming wedding. Her brief was simple. Make a one-of-a-kind showstopper. A wide golden halo with flowers of all types, hints of sparkle and pearl details. Who could resist such a beautiful vision?

We created this beauty just for her. It was handcrafted by weaving together branches and vine-like details accented with crystals and pearls. It featured dainty clay flowers, enamel flowers and sparkly crystal leaves to create glimpses of floral finery.

Fully adjustable, it was designed so complement her bridal hairstyle and wedding veil.

Thank you Saba for the opportunity to create this piece for you.

There’s a poetic magnetism when gold and silver tones combine. We were inspired by this colour palette in designing this bohemian inspired bridal headpiece.

The inspiration

The intention was to capture a sense of untamed luxury and effortless ease.  The vision was to ground soft light reflected off metallic tones with florals and foliage.

There’s an understated luxury to this piece which was designed to frame a romantic hairstyle. The combination of silver crystals, golden metallic tones, handcrafted clay flowers and the soft shimmer of dainty pearls is unquestionably beautiful.

We love the way the woven details draw you in and weave along the hairline in a way that feels unexpected yet familiar.

Ethereal, enchanted and utterly romantic all in one.

Make it yours

We live by our bespoke and made to order mandates. When working with our brides, we aim to understand the women behind the bride and to capture in our pieces what it is she is drawn to.

Our full collections are fully customisable to suit you, your wedding gown and hairstyle. Get in touch with photos of your bridal look, we’d love to hear from you.

Your bridal jewellery is not just an accessory; it’s a symbol of the one of the most important days of your life. Whether it’s a stunning pair of earrings, a delicate necklace or a cherished heirloom, your bridal jewellery holds sentimental value and deserves the utmost care. To keep your pieces sparkling and beautiful for years to come, follow these essential tips on how to care for your bridal jewellery.

1. Clean your jewellery regularly

Keeping your bridal jewellery clean is crucial for maintaining its shine and brilliance. Here’s how to do it safely:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe your jewellery after each wear. This removes oils, sweat and makeup that can dull the surface.
  • For a deeper clean, mix a few drops of mild dish soap with lukewarm water. Soak your jewellery for a few minutes, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush. Rinse with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth. If your jewellery features pearls, do not submerge your jewellery into water as this can damage the pearls and weaken the silk thread and attachment.
  • Steer clear of using bleach, ammonia or other harsh chemicals, as they can damage metal and stones.

2. Store your jewellery properly

How you store your bridal jewellery can make a significant difference in its longevity:

  • Store each piece of jewellery separately to avoid scratches and tangling. Velvet lined jewellery boxes with individual compartments are ideal.
  • If you don’t have a jewellery box, soft pouches made from cotton or soft fabric can protect your pieces from damage.
  • Keep your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. High humidity can cause tarnishing, especially for silver pieces.
  • For pearl jewellery, store them flat to prevent the strand from stretching over time. Pearls are delicate and can be damaged by excessive pressure.

3. Wear your jewellery with care

On your wedding day and whenever you wear your bridal jewellery afterward, it’s important to handle it with care:

  • Make your jewellery the last thing you put on after getting dressed and the first thing you take off when undressing. This minimises exposure to makeup, perfume, hairspray and lotions that can tarnish or damage your jewellery.
  • Be mindful of rough surfaces that can scratch your jewellery. Remove your rings, bracelets and other pieces when engaging in activities that could cause damage.
  • If your bridal jewellery includes pearls or opals, remember that these stones are softer and more prone to scratching. Treat them with extra care and avoid contact with abrasive materials.

4. Mindful storage during travel

When travelling with your bridal jewellery, take extra precautions to keep it safe:

  • Keep your bridal jewellery in its original box if possible to protect your pieces from bumps and scratches.
  • Always carry your bridal jewellery in your hand luggage rather than checking it in. This ensures it stays with you and reduces the risk of loss or damage.
  • Consider only taking the essential pieces on your trip to minimise the risk of losing or damaging your valuable items.

Every wedding gown and bride is different and the perfect accessories for you will not only depend on your gown but your personal style, vision, height and hairstyle. We love to work with our brides to create the perfect veil that you will love to keep as an heirloom after your wedding day. Get in touch with us – we would love to hear from you!

Some brides set out on their wedding planning journey with a clear vision in mind. While others have a simple idea which gains focus and clarity as they discover each and every detail and element through searching, sampling and asking lots of questions.

We love to work with each of these brides. They push our creativity and ensure we produce the most gorgeous and longed for wedding accessories. At the end of the day, we want to see beautiful happy brides, feeling confident and lovely as they walk down their wedding aisles towards the loves of their lives.

A simple crystal vine bridal comb

Our bride Brenda came to us with a clear vision. She loved elements of our Ophelia, Camillia and Leona headpieces. She wanted something simple, forming a single line, that was exactly 7 inches long.

Drawing on the three headpieces, we created a crystal vine using silver wire, featuring sparkly crystal leaves and blush freshwater pearl floral accents to pick up the subtle pink tones in her wedding dress. It’s a single piece that weaves elegantly and naturally along the linear plane – just as a vine would.

Brenda plans to wear to hair out, and to pair the hair comb with a veil, so we constructed the piece around a split comb system. This will ensure it will not only stay in her hair, but helps create the ever sort after – and absolutely gorgeous – layered bridal comb and veil look.

Brenda – we just loved working with you and your clear vision! You have excellent style and we just know your wedding is going to be everything you’ve dreamed of and more. We can’t wait to see the photos soon.

Finding your perfect wedding dress is a huge milestone in your wedding planning journey. Now that you've have the dress, it's time to think about the next essential component of your bridal look: the veil.

Congratulations on finding your dream dress! If a wedding veil is what you envisage for your bridal look, you’ve come to the right place.  Join us as we explore the various options available and we share our expert guide to help you find the perfect veil to complement your dress. The right veil can elevate your bridal ensemble, adding a layer of romance, tradition and modern flair to your wedding day. But with so many lengths, widths, styles and embellishments on offer, it’s no wonder that many brides-to-be planning their weddings can feel a little overwhelmed. Take your time, try on different options, and choose a veil that makes you feel like the best version of yourself. After all, your veil is more than just an accessory—it’s a symbol of the bride you’ve always dreamed of being.

1. Understand your dress style

The first step in finding the right veil is to consider the style and shape of your dress. As a general guide, your veil should accentuate and be proportional to your dress.  This means it shouldn’t overpower or take away from the details of the dress. Doing so can be distracting and also interrupt the flow of your overall look.

Look for key focal points on your dress as guidance for your veil. Often a veil will look best cut just above or below any horizontal lines. If your veil falls where a focal point begins, for example a defined waist line, this will feel effortless and proportional.

  • Classic ball gown: If your dress is a traditional ball gown with a full skirt, consider a chapel or cathedral length veil to add drama and elegance. If you prefer a shorter veil, a waist length or fingertip is elegant and refined.
  • Modern sheath or slip dress: A sleek, minimalist dress pairs beautifully with a minimalist chapel veil, fingertip veil or a birdcage veil. Gowns without a train or a short train are gorgeous when paired with a floor length or chapel length veil. As a guide – look for a veil that is slightly longer than the hem or train of your gown.
  • Lace or embellished gown: If your dress is heavily embellished or features intricate lacework, opt for a veil that’s simpler in design. A plain tulle veil will allow the details of your dress to shine without competing for attention.
  • Bohemian or rustic dress: For a more relaxed, boho style, consider a veil with soft, flowing lines, such as a mantilla or veil edged with lace. These styles complement the effortless beauty of a bohemian gown.
  • Mermaid/trumpet: To complement the mermaid or trumpet silhouette, look for a long and narrow veil to walk down the aisle or a mid-length or fingertip veil to showcase your flared skirt.
  • A-line: It’s all about proportions when it comes to choosing a veil for your a-line wedding gown. Take your pick from a fingertip, waltz length or chapel length veil to showcase the gorgeous bodice of your dress.

2. Consider the length

Veil length is one of the most important factors to consider. Here’s a quick overview of the most common veil lengths and how they pair with different dress styles:

  • Birdcage veil (22.5cm or 9 inches): This short, vintage-style veil typically covers just part of the face and is perfect for retro, minimalist or modern brides.
  • Shoulder length veil (50cm or 20 inches): A casual and modern choice, this veil ends around the shoulders and is ideal for informal or outdoor weddings.
  • Elbow length veil (63cm-68cm or 25-27 inches): Falling to your elbows, this length is flattering and versatile, complementing most dress styles.
  • Fingertip veil (91-101cm or 36-40 inches): One of the most popular veil lengths, it grazes your fingertips and adds elegance without overwhelming the dress.
  • Chapel length veil (230cm or 90 inches: This veil extends to the floor, just beyond the hem of your dress, adding a touch of formality and grace.
  • Cathedral length veil (275-305cm or 108-120 inches): The most dramatic option, this veil trails behind you, perfect for a grand, traditional wedding.

Generally speaking, a fingertip veil is a timeless and classic option that works beautifully with a range of different wedding dresses. It is also a versatile choice for a range of different venues – from the church to a beach or garden wedding.

3. Match the colour

Matching the colour of your veil to your dress is crucial for a cohesive look. Wedding dresses come in various shades of white, ivory, champagne and blush, so your veil should complement this tone as well as you can.

  • White dresses: Pair with a pure white veil to match the brightness of your gown. Very few gowns are actually a pure white. Silk white, natural white or diamond white dresses are a neutral white and lack the brightness and starkness of pure white fabrics. These dresses are best paired with more neutral white veils. We describe this tone as ‘bridal white’ in our collections.
  • Ivory dresses: Choose an ivory veil that matches the tone of your ivory. Ivory dresses can range from off-white to light ivory to soft ivory to warm ivory. If in doubt, pairing your medium toned ivory dress with a soft ivory will feel dreamy, ethereal and won’t weight down your look.
  • Blush or champagne dresses: Consider a veil with a slight pink or champagne tint to harmonise with your dress colour. Request fabric swatches or consult your bridal veil designer for their recommendation.

4. Think about the details

The details of your veil can either enhance or detract from your overall look, so it’s important to choose wisely.

  • Embellishments: If your dress is simple, you might opt for a veil with embellishments like lace, beading or florals for a touch of detail. However, if your dress is already detailed, a plain veil will let your dress take centre stage.
  • Edging: The edge of your veil can also make a statement. A raw cut edge offers a modern, clean look, while lace or ribbon edges add a traditional, romantic touch.

5. Consider your hairstyle

Your hairstyle will affect how your veil sits and how it’s secured. If you choose to wear a veil, your veil may need a supportive base such as a bridal bun, messy updo, or half up/half down hairstyle.  The longer or heavier your veil, the more supportive your bun or hairstyle will need to be.

  • Updos: An updo works well with almost any veil length, allowing the veil to cascade down from the back of your head.
  • Loose waves: If you plain to wear your hair down, your hairstylist will need to reinforce your veil with additional pins and precautions to ensure it stays in place all day.
  • Half up, half down: This versatile hairstyle pairs beautifully with most veil styles.

6. Practical considerations

While the aesthetic of your veil is important, it’s also important to think about the practicality of wearing a veil. Take into account the venue and potential weather forecast. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, the wind will be an issue. Longer veils can get caught in the breeze, so you may wish to opt or a shorter style or one that can be easily removed after the ceremony.

It’s important to make sure your veil is lightweight and easy to wear. You’ll be wearing it for several hours, so comfort is key.

We also recommend someone from your bridal party knows how to remove the veil after the ceremony if you plan to take it off for the reception. This may include asking the hairstylist how many bobby pins have been used to secure the veil into place so you can remove the veil without damaging your hairstyle.

It’s always a joy when we design a headpiece for a bride which in turn inspires another bride. The timelessness of a headpiece we created for Serah in gold tones caught the eye of the loveliest bride Claire who wished for it in silver tones to better suit her bridal look.

When it comes to styling your wedding dress, you can’t go wrong with soft delicate details on your wedding day. There’s a world of options when it comes to accessorising but if you stick to a look that’s effortlessly elegant and timeless, there’ll be very few regrets as you look back on your wedding photos in years to come.

Image: Bride Serah Judy Pak Photography

The headpiece we designed for Serah and Claire was inspired by the details of our WILD WILLOWS headpiece. This exquisite headpiece was inspired by the majestic weeping willow tree and distinguished by its slender and delicate branch-like design. Handcrafted from scratch, it is carefully formed from gold or silver wire and features subtle leaf details, small oval freshwater pearls and life-like flower buds.

Claire loved the look of this piece but preferred it in silver with round freshwater pearls to match her pearl drop earrings and wedding dress.

Claire loved Serah’s headpiece and the customisations we had made for her, and just wanted her headpiece tweaked ever so slightly. The smaller oval shaped pearls were replaced with larger round ones, and the silver tone overall is just the loveliest.

If you love this piece and would like to chat about customising it to suit you, I’d love to hear from you!

We explore the best bridal hairstyles for birdcage veils, share tips on how to accessorise your look including practical advice for styling your hair.

There’s something undeniably chic and sophisticated about a birdcage veil. This classic bridal accessory exudes vintage glamour, adding a touch of old Hollywood elegance to your wedding day look. Whether you’re channelling the timeless beauty of the 1920s or looking for a unique twist on traditional bridal style, a birdcage veil can be the perfect finishing touch. But, as with any veil, the key to pulling off this look likes in choosing the right hairstyle and accessories.

Choosing the right hairstyle to pair with a birdcage vil is essential for creating a cohesive and polished look. Let’s dive into the world of birdcage veils and share how to create a bridal look that’s both timeless and unforgettable.

1. The classic chignon

The classic chignon is a perfect match for a birdcage veil. This low, elegant bun offers a timeless look that pairs beautifully with the vintage charm of the veil.

How to style: Start by parting your hair to one side or down the middle, then gather it into a low bun at the nape of your neck. For a softer look, leave a few tendrils loose around your face. Secure the veil just above the chignon, allowing it to drape gracefully over one eye or just above your brow.

The placement of your birdcage veil can change the entire vibe of your look. Experiment with different angles and positions to see what flatters your face and complements your style.

Add a jewelled bridal hair pin or comb to the side of the chignon for a touch of sparkle. A pearl or crystal encrusted piece can enhance the vintage vibe of the birdcage veil.

2. Soft waves

For brides who prefer a more relaxed, romantic look, soft waves are a beautiful option. This hairstyle adds movement and softness, creating a dreamy, ethereal effect.

How to style: Use a curling wand or large rollers to create loose, flowing waves. Focus on keeping the waves soft and touchable rather than overly structured. Position the birdcage veil at the crown or slightly to one side, letting the waves peek out beneath the veil.

When wearing a birdcage veil with loose hair, it’s important to balance your accessories. If your birdcage veil or dress is heavily embellished, opt for simpler earrings, such as wedding studs or subtle pearl drop earrings.

Enhance your waves with delicate hair pins or a floral comb tucked just above the veil. A simple, elegant headband can also be worn with the veil for a more contemporary twist.

3. The side swept bun

A side swept bun is a glamorous choice that pairs wonderfully with a birdcage veil. This asymmetrical style adds a modern twist to the classic updo, creating a look that’s both elegant and fashion-forward.

How to style: Sweep your hair to one side and gather it into a low bun just below your ear. For added volume, tease the crown slightly before pulling your hair back. Secure the veil on the opposite side of the bun, allowing it to drape across your forehead and frame your face.

See it styled:

Classic studs or dainty pearl drop earrings can balance the look and add a touch of drama. Consider a bold, vintage-inspired piece to complement the birdcage veil. Floral bridal hair pins are a beautiful way to frame the side swept bun.

4. The textured pixie cut

If you’re rocking a pixie cut, don’t worry, you can absolutely pull off a birdcage veil. A textured pixie cut adds a modern, edgy vibe to the classic elegance of the veil.

How to style: Use a texturising spray or pomade to add definition and volume to your pixie cut. You can keep it sleek and smooth for a more polished loo, or tousle it slightly for an effortless, lived-in feel.

See it styled:

Attach the birdcage veil slightly off-centre, allowing it to drape over one eye for a sultry, sophisticated effect. Pair your pixie cut with a bold statement headpiece, like a jewelled headband or a crystal bridal hair comb. This will add a touch of clam to your edgy hairstyle.

4. The chic bridal ponytail

The ponytail is no longer just a casual go-to; when pair with a birdcage veil, the look is high drama and sophisticated. Whether you’re going for a polished look or something more relaxed and textured, a ponytail and birdcage veil can adapt to fit your wedding vibe.

How to style: Start by adding loose waves or curls to your hair with a curling wand. Use a texturising spray to add volume and grit, then gather your hair into a low or mid-height ponytail. Gently tug at the hair around your crown and the sides to create a fuller, more voluminous look.

See it styled:

Attach the birdcage veil at the side or slightly above the ponytail, letting it drape across your forehead. The textured ponytail adds a touch of romance that pairs beautifully with the vintage elegance of the veil.

One of my favourite places to source inspiration comes straight from nature. There’s so much beauty in the simple details and I always try to take the time to stop what I’m doing to take in my surrounds. When I go for walks, I like to look up at the trees, the sky, the bare branches. I’m also very lucky because I have the most beautiful garden that’s filled with blooming camellia trees, magnolias, a stunning crepe myrtle, lavender and flower bulbs galore. It’s so hard to not be inspired by the beauty around us!

I was so honoured when bride-to-be Natalie was in touch with me about creating a bespoke gold pearl wedding headpiece for her wedding day. Natalie loved the detailing from the Wild Willows headpiece and so together we started chatting about customising the piece to better suit her bridal look. She sent me photos of her exquisite wedding dress and gorgeous bridal up-do including a photo of her face shape so I could visualise the overall look and modified the design to best suit her beautiful features. Natalie is one gorgeous girl and my goodness, she’s going to knock the socks off her groom that’s for sure.

Inspired by the intricacy of nature and botanic beauty, I designed the piece with the lovely Natalie in mind. It’s handcrafted from gold jewellery wire, freshwater pearls, darling buds, clear faceted crystals and gold mesh leaves. Each little detail was handmade from scratch and all pretty details can be customised.

Thank you Natalie for the opportunity to work with you! I wish you all the very best for your special day, I just know you will look amazing!

Would you ever consider doing your own hair for your wedding?  The prospect may seem a tad daunting for your big day, and the thousands of hair tutorials floating around the web can seem more overwhelming than helpful. I’ve had a little look around and I’ve found some of the absolute best, easiest and prettiest how-to guides for simple DIY wedding hair. Here are my top 4!

This little 4-step tutorial is incredibly simple to follow – you certainly don’t need to be a super-human domestic goddess with a penchant for insider trading to pull it off. This is one in a collection of classic DIY ‘dos on the site that are all beautiful and chic… and if imagining Martha’s stern yet gentle voice guiding you through it (like I did) helps then so be it!

Difficulty: Absolute minimal difficulty

Equipment needed: Bobby pins (the longer the better), round brush, texturizing or regular hair spray, small hair elastic

Works with: Classic and elegant gowns and veils positioned at the back or birdcage veils

Like any true romantic I’ve always had a soft spot for feminine, vintage-inspired hairstyles. Unfortunately, they are notoriously fiddly and always leave me in a frustrated pile of tears, hot rollers and styling mousse. Thankfully, Matthew Curtis, the hairstylist featured in this video, makes the retro style look incredibly easy – using minimal equipment and giving fantastic little tips for getting the look just right.

Difficulty: There aren’t any particularly difficult techniques employed for this one, but it will require some time and patience to get each curl done properly

Equipment needed: Medium to large curling wand or hot rollers, ‘work in’ spray is what he uses, but you could just as easily use mousse or setting spray, long tong clips, fine tooth comb, soft bristle brush

Works with: Vintage silk or lace gowns, oversized silk flowers pinned at the side or a striking Mantilla style veil

I’ve only recently stumbled across Christina at Hair Romance, but her site has quickly become one of my favourites due to her fantastically straightforward, step-by-step instructions.

This particular tutorial gives a few different variations on what Christina calls a ‘four strand slide up braid’, a feminine, bohemian-inspired side braid that can be easily adapted to any type of hair and would work just as easily for a garden, beach, registry or formal wedding.

Difficulty: Surprisingly easy, but you do have to be confident with sectioning and braiding your hair

Equipment needed Bobby pins, small hair elastics – that’s it! Plus your choice of styling sprays or serums

Works with: Floor-length lace gowns and flower crowns

This cute tutorial comes with an absolutely gorgeous photo shoot (all I want in life right now is to cycle around on a vintage bike in a little feathered wedding dress) and results in a hairstyle that is just as stylish – a little twist on a classic, sleek, up-do.

Difficulty: Minimal, but may take a little time to get your bun to sit exactly where you’d like it to

Equipment: Bobby pins and an elastic band (make sure to find one that fits very snugly, otherwise your hair may escape!)

Works with: Minimalism and birdcage veils

Contrast a short wedding dress with a cathedral veil for a look that's dramatic and ultra chic.

Sweet and chic, short wedding dresses are expressive, chic and they’re all about creating a vibe of effortless ease. Not only are they generally more affordable than longer wedding dresses, but the overall look can be easily transformed with the right wedding accessories.  Best of all? You can wear your dress again after your wedding day.

Short wedding dresses allow for greater movement which is perfect for elopements and relaxed nuptials. Keira Knightley inspired us with her short corset ballet dress and it seems bridal designers worldwide have well and truly embraced the short bridal dress.

Can you wear a long veil with a short wedding dress?

We get asked this a lot. And the answer is yes!  Previously short wedding dresses were often seen with a short flyaway veil or a cropped veil that fell to the elbows, nowadays it has become more common for brides to up the drama and contrast their short wedding dress with a cathedral veil for a look that’s high style and ultra chic.

When it comes to accessorising short wedding dress, choose accessorises that will reflect the style of your dress, your venue and your personal style. It’s easy to transition from aisle style to evening soirée with a sparkly clutch, statement necklace and fun shoes and you’re good to go.

1. Bridal jewellery and short wedding dresses

Accessorising a short wedding dress allows you to express your personal style and add unique touches to your bridal look. Playing with bridal jewellery including pearl drop earrings, bridal necklaces or pearl bracelets can elevate your ensemble and create a cohesive, chic look.

The right bridal jewellery for you should complement your wedding dress without overpowering it. The choice of jewellery depends on the neckline of your dress and personal style. As a guide, we love the look of a collar-length pearl necklace with a short wedding dress for a classic look. A pearl bracelet, or stack of bracelet, will frame your arms and beautifully accentuate your cropped hemline.

2. Birdcage veils and short wedding dresses

When it comes to styling a wedding dress, a birdcage veil offers a vintage-inspired look that pairs beautifully with pearl drop earrings and a pearl bracelet.

Adding embellishments to your birdcage veil through 3D florals or delicate lacework will draw the eyes upwards and elongate your look.

3. Statement earrings and short wedding dresses

Choose earrings that can add drama and will frame the neckline. Oversized florals or beaded bows suspended from the ears are a beautiful way to extend the details of your look upwards.

We love the look of statement earrings with a short wedding dress as it offers balance to bare legs and feels playful and flirty.

Our stylist tips for accessorising a short wedding dress

  • Your shoes will be on full display so feel free to be expressive with them. Think bridal boots or sky high stilettos to a fun pop of colour and drama.
  • It’s all about balance and ensuring your accessories are in proportion in size to you and your dress. Statement headpieces or collar length necklaces are a big yes. Find statement pieces that work in harmony with your dress and show off your dress as well as your personal style.
  • If you decide to go with a short veil, choose a veil that falls to the shoulders, waist or the hemline of your short wedding dress. Two tiered veils work beautifully and will draw attention to your waist line.
  • For a unique alternative to a wedding veil, opt for a bridal shawl to channel your inner Audrey Hepburn. A bridal shawl like our Ballerina shawl will beautifully drape across your arms and accentuate your arms.
