At Tania Maras, we understand that your wedding day is one of the most important moments of your life, and every detail from your dress to your accessories, should be nothing short of perfection. Unfortunately, not every bride’s journey is smooth, and we occasionally meet brides who come to us after having worked with another bridal accessories designer who didn’t meet their expectations.
While it’s disheartening to hear that a bride’s experience wasn’t as magical as it should have been, we see these moments as an opportunity to help make things right. Here’s how we approach these situations and how we work to turn disappointment into joy.
One of the first steps we take when a bride comes to us after a less-than-ideal experience with another designer is to truly listen. We want to understand her vision, her concerns, and what specifically went wrong with the previous design. Whether it was a lack of communication, a misunderstanding of her style, or a final product that didn’t match her expectations, we take the time to dig deep into what she’s looking for. By asking the right questions and listening carefully, we ensure we’re fully aligned with her vision from the very beginning.
Sometimes, a bride’s previous experience may have left her feeling uncertain or hesitant. Our goal is to rebuild her confidence and help her see that the perfect accessories are within reach. We take this opportunity to redefine expectations, both hers and ours.
We work collaboratively with the bride, involving her along the design process by sharing images, descriptions and the option of final adjustments. We make sure she feels in control and confident that the end result will be how she envisaged.
One of the reasons brides turn to us after a disappointing experience is because they value the high level of craftsmanship and quality that Tania Maras is known for. Before any piece leaves our studio, it undergoes rigorous quality checks to ensure it meets our exacting standards.
We aim to make the entire design experience as positive and stress-free as possible. By focusing on what went wrong in her previous experience, we can ensure that we avoid those pitfalls and deliver a result that she’ll love.
We were so grateful when Yasmin reached out to us. After sharing her situation with us, Yasmin sent us examples of inspiration images that appealed to her (including photos from her first attempt so we knew what she didn’t want) and together we shared thoughts on how to bring this vision to life. We drew inspiration from our Franca floral crown and reimagined it into an exquisite floral bun wrap that will create a beautiful focal point to her bridal look.
As Yasmin was in a hurry, we prioritised her order with an expedited production time. After approval photos were sent and given the all clear, her headpiece was beautifully packaged and sent her via Express Post with time to spare before her special day.
A very special thank you to Yasmin for sharing these photos with us from her wedding day. We are absolutely in love with these photos! We love how she paired her floral headpiece with her wedding gown. A truly breathtaking bridal look.

The art of choosing timeless bridal hair accessories lies in selecting pieces that enhance your natural beauty, complement your wedding theme, and resonate with your personal style. Opting for a timeless look doesn’t mean your pieces can’t capture your personality and your personal style. Here’s how to choose hair accessories that will stand the test of time and remain beautiful mementos of your special day.
When it comes to timeless bridal styling, classic styles are key. Traditional bridal hair accessories such as tiaras, combs and hair pins, have adorned brides for generations. Their enduring appeal lies in their simplicity and versatility, making them suitable for various hairstyles and wedding themes.
If you’re looking to incorporate some personality into a classic tiara or hair pin, consider bringing a sentimental detail into the piece such as a specific flower or gemstone.
The art of choosing timeless bridal hair accessories comes down to a focus on quality, thoughtful design, beautiful timeless details and sentimental designs that have meaning to you.
Many of the timeless looks in history feature pearls, crystals, flowers and fine lacework. They are synonymous with bridal beauty and elegance. Their timeless appeal and ability to complement various bridal looks make them popular choices for hair accessories and veils.

Your bridal hair accessories should harmonise with your wedding dress and hairstyle. Match embellishments and details of your dress with your adornments. For example, if your dress features lace or beadwork, choose accessories with similar elements.
Your hairstyle plays a very important role in setting the style of your overall look. Updos are a beautiful foundation for tiaras and combs, while loose wavs or half-up hairstyles pair well with bridal hair pins and headbands.

Incorporating sentimental details into your bridal hair accessories adds a personal touch and makes them more meaningful. Wearing a family heirloom, such as a vintage hair comb or pin, adds a sentimental and timeless element. It’ss a beautiful way to honour family traditions and carry a piece of your heritage with you.
Consider custom-made accessories that reflect your personal style and story. Whether it’s incorporating your favourite colour or a design inspired by your heritage, customised pieces are unique and timeless.

While timeless accessories often lean towards classic styles, they can still reflect your wedding them without compromising elegance.
For vintage style weddings, opt for accessories with antique-finishes, such as antique silver tones. Details like filigree or art deco patterns are classic elements within history.
If your wedding has a bohemian vibe, consider flower crowns or accessories with natural elements.
For a modern, minimalist look, choose sleek and simple accessories. A set of pearl hair pins or a thin crystal headband can add just the right amount of detail without taking away from the beauty of your look.

A wedding crown is more than just a beautiful accessory; it’s a symbol of the regal elegance and timeless beauty that every bride embodies on her special day. Whether you’ve been dreaming of a fairytale wedding or simply want to add a touch of luxury to your bridal look, the right wedding crown can make all the difference.
With so many styles and options available, choosing the perfect wedding crown can feel overwhelming. In this post, we’ll guide you through the key factors to consider when selecting your crown, ensuring you find the perfect piece to complement your style and make you feel like royalty.
Wedding crowns come in a variety of styles, each offering a unique aesthetic.
Your wedding dress plays a crucial role in determining the best crown style for you.
When it comes to styling your bridal look, referring back to your mood board is important to ensure your choices stay true to your original vision. The theme and setting of your wedding will be an important consideration to ensure you achieve the vibe you’re after.
Your wedding crown should perfectly frame your hair and face so your chosen hairstyle will be an important consideration.
We always notice that the moment a wedding crown is placed on a bride, she will walk with her head high with a confidence that only she knows. It’s important to ensure your crown fits well and is secured in place. We recommend bobby pins or hair combs to secure the crown into your hair. Your hairstylist will be able to help you with the fitting to ensure it stays in place throughout the day.

For some brides, styling their wedding look is the most fun a woman can have. For others, the endless choices and all the little decisions can feel overwhelming and push you out of your comfort zone.
It’s true that styling your look requires planning, an eye for detail and having a good understanding of your personal style. But it doesn’t mean you need to have a solid background in fashion or design. Often the best thing to listen to is your instincts – after all, you know your style more than anyone else. And if you don’t know your style, you certainly know what you don’t like so perhaps a process of elimination might be a good starting point for you.
We recently had the pleasure of working with bride Megan from the USA to create a floral bridal crown and pearl veil for her wedding day. Megan had a good understanding of her style and the vibe she was looking for to complete her bridal look. Megan had a few favourites from our collection but wasn’t sure about the best pieces for her look and how to bring together her accessories to complement her dress and venue in a seamless and cohesive way.
Megan’s bridal dress journey started with a vision in mind of a soft and flowing silhouette with feminine details. In the end, she fell in love with the exact opposite – a classic and structured half ballgown free of embellishments. Her timeless gown created the perfect blank canvas to inspire her accessories.
After having tried on a range of bridal headpieces and veils at her local bridal boutique, Megan reached out to us online in search for detailing that included golden tones and floral elements. Having had an opportunity to experiment with different styles in store, Megan was able to form a better idea of her likes and dislikes and the type of accessories she felt was more suitable for her personality and style.
After browsing our collections, Megan fell in love with the floral and leaf details on our FLORES crown and gravitated towards the shape and airiness of the SONNET. She preferred styles with free space between details to create a sense of airiness and smaller details.
The wedding venue Megan booked exudes an old world and romantic character in her mother’s home country of Ireland. The venue features a variety of design elements – the house itself is a 16th century with an eclectic moody antique space with acres of gardens. The venue also included a white marble greenhouse, and the reception space is a rustic low-lit red brick space.
With a variety of details, colours and accents in the venue, we helped Megan pull together her accessories so they felt consistent and appropriate for her wedding space.
We were also fortunate to be able to design Megan’s bridal headpiece in conjunction with her bespoke pearl veil. To add drama and detail to her structured semi-ball gown, Megan chose our NADIA veil which we customised with a heavier cluster of pearls along the full circumference of the veil for a more dramatic look.
We took some photos of her beautiful veil in the studio before we shipped it off to the USA from Australia.
We are an Australian based designer of wedding accessories and veils. But more than that, we are bridal stylists who love to help our brides pull together their whole bridal look. So we can provide you with the best possible advice, we love to have an understanding of your whole bridal picture – the venue, your bridal hairstyle, your bridesmaids dresses, your bouquet, even your wedding shoes. This helps us understand the essence of your style and all the other important details that need to come together.
There’s no need for an appointment to work with us. We work with brides worldwide via email and can design and create wedding headpieces and veils to suit your wedding dress and bridal hairstyle. We ship worldwide and can accommodate rush orders if your wedding is fast approaching.

Bride Olivia dreamed of her wedding day with husband Jack to be “bursting with beautiful blooms”. With thoughtful styling and colour coordinating, their wedding flowers were even better than she imagined. Their floral arches, bouquets and centrepieces were truly beautiful and romantic, complementing the sentiment of the day.
The flowers weren’t your classic baby’s breath either – orchids, roses and pampas grass were used in the arrangements to create a look that was dreamy and modern. This theme ran throughout the wedding, especially in Olivia’s bridal look. She wore a figure-hugging, sparkly lace gown and our TEMPEST crown with delicate crystal and pearl details. She was surrounded by a tulle aura, with the MARAIS veil completing her divine look.
Olivia and Jack married at The War Memorial, a historic lakefront venue in Michigan, USA. The venue boasts formal gardens, a ballroom and a striking facade for the ceremony backdrop.
“The War Memorial attracted me because it looks like an estate in France, which goes along with the romantic vibe I desired,” says Olivia.
The venue styling was understated and elegant, with a soft neutral palette and warm pops of colour.
“I also really liked the way that everything didn’t totally match… I didn’t want to have specific ‘wedding colours’, instead, I wanted a soft palette where everything was cohesive yet not matchy-matchy,” she says.
Along with the beautiful floral displays, another special detail for Olivia was the wedding favours. She printed out tags with some of her favourite love poems and tied them around little bottles of Casa Migos (Olivia and Jack’s favourite tequila).
Olivia’s natural goddess-like beauty was elevated in her flowy lace gown with soft drapes and her golden accessories.
“I knew I didn’t want a ‘classic’ bridal look – I wanted something a little sexier, something with sparkle and texture. I loved Inbal Dror’s styles and found they fit my body very well. When I saw the perfect gown hanging in the sample basement of a local bridal boutique, I knew it was the one!”
Our gold TEMPEST crown featuring freshwater pearl cluster and crystal vines, along with the sleek and floaty MARAIS veil, further emphasised Olivia’s heavenly presence.
“A gold detailed crown-meets-headpiece was something I always wanted since it is the perfect combo of boho and regal. I discovered Tania Maras on Pinterest and loved the way they styled their accessories in a modern way. Since my dress was so intricate, I didn’t want the veil to compete, which is why the MARAIS veil was perfect.”
“Start early, because the details really add up to one ‘wow’ moment if you have time to think through it all! And make sure you really articulate what you want with vendors. Our vendors were so great at taking our preferences into account while still using their artistry and genius to create a wedding that was even better than we imagined,” says Olivia.
Daniela discovered us through Instagram and fell in love with our work. She sent us an email with photographs of her wedding dress, potential hairstyles and also shared her thoughts on the type of gold wedding crown she had envisaged for her wedding day.
With her wedding in early December, we were excited at the prospect to work with her and we had a good amount of time to design and create a gold wedding crown and have it arrive with time to spare so she could bring it along to her dress fitting.
Daniela had chosen an exquisite lace wedding wedding dress which she will wear with a detachable full skirt and long train. Her look channels all that is majestic and grande in a way that exudes timelessness and a classic sensibility.
She was still deciding between a ponytail and low set hair bun with middle part when we first started emailing so we designed a gold wedding crown which she could wear with both hairstyles depending on which option she decided to go with.
Daniela’s love for a pale gold finish rather than a stronger yellow gold undertone lead us to draw inspiration from the LYRIC headpiece. We loved the way the leaves and details on the LYRIC grow out and around from the centre and felt it would be the perfect foundation for her headpiece.
Her other favourite style was our ENCHANTED headpiece but as it’s profile was a little too low and the details were only available in a warmer yellow gold, we decided to carry across some of the defining floral elements across instead into her bespoke crown.
We lengthened the design of the LYRIC and reworked it onto a firmer base to support the crown style she loved. We brought in freshwater pearls from the ENCHANTED crown to add fullness to the piece, as well as extra texture and depth. As the headpiece will be worn at the top of Daniela’s head, we also needed to design it with additional leaves and flowers so it would look beautiful and decadent from all angles.
Finding that perfect headpiece can be a challenge because there are can be many options to choose from. Sometimes having lots of choice can make it harder to make a decision.
If you’re still looking for your perfect headpiece or veil, feel free to get in touch with us via email and share thoughts and photos on the vision and style you have in mind. We would love to work with you to talk through the options and what could work. If your perfect piece doesn’t exist but you feel elements of it can be seen across a few of our styles do let us know too as we would love to work with you to bring it life.
On the Eve is a symphony of wildly romantic and feminine details in luxurious shades of antique rose and silver tones. We had the honour of designing and crafting this blush bridal headpiece for bride Clara for her wedding day.
A pink colour palette has come a long way within the bridal industry. Once a pastel or baby pink, modern wedding gowns are now available in exquisite shades of nude, pale blush and peachy blush tones. These muted shades feel effortless, enchanted and utterly romantic.
The loveliest bride Clara loved the shape and dimension of our EMILIE headpiece and equally loved the detailing of the ODE TO DUSK comb. The combination of these two styles came together beautifully and we loved the process of blending her favourite details.
The beauty of her bespoke headpiece not only in the details but also its versatility with styling. Clara’s comb features a split combs so it can be easily styled with a veil for a seamless look.
As the On the Eve headpiece features antique silver and sparkly crystal elements, we love to pair it with the MORNING MIST wedding veil but would also style nicely with almost all veils from our wedding veil collection.
If you’re interested in a headpiece or veil customised to suit your wedding dress and hairstyle, feel free to get in touch. Share images of your wedding dress and bridal hairstyle, including details on any styles you may like from our collections. We can then get back to you with ideas and recommendations.
You may have discovered during your wedding dress journey, the spectrum of ‘white’ and ‘ivory’ is far and wide. Not all ‘white’ tones are created equal and the same applies to ‘ivory’. The colour ‘ivory’ can vary dramatically between designers and depending on the fabric, it can range from off-white to warm ivory tones.
The majority of our brides walk down the aisle in light or medium ivory wedding gowns as these tones work well with almost all skin and hair colour tones. However, a brilliant white gown and white wedding crown will always have its place as it exudes a classic sophistication and timelessness.
We recently worked with Canadian bride Samantha to design a white wedding crown for her elegant gown. Samantha’s wedding dress is equal parts classic and sophisticated, featuring a low V back, slightly off-the-shoulder silhouette and dramatic train. In designing her crown, the style and silhouette of her dress became the main source of inspiration.
We love to pair a traditional white wedding dress with a silver headpiece with crystals or true white floral accents to finish the look. If your dress features a more modern silhouette or clean lines, both gold and silver tones can be worn. It depends so much on the vibe and look you’re hoping to achieve.
A question we are often asked is whether a white wedding dress should be paired with white or ivory accessories. The answer really depends on the shade of white – i.e. whether the white has a cool, neutral or warm undertone.
If your dress is a cool or neutral white, it’s best to pair it with white accessories otherwise it can feel too stark in comparison and the accessory can look aged. If your dress is off-white or warmer, we like to recommend light ivory tones.
Our headpiece and veil collections can be customised in ivory or white tones, with ivory as the default colour due to popularity. Our white flowers are a beautiful shade of neutral white with a matte porcelain-like finish.
If you aren’t sure which colour to choose, feel free to contact us directly and we would be happy to offer advice and recommendations based on any photos and samples you can send us.
We’d love to work with you to customise our designs in white tones to better suit your wedding dress fabrics. Feel free to send us photos of your wedding dress and bridal hairstyle. We would love to offer advice and recommendations.
Featuring a backdrop of sweeping snow-capped mountains scattered with historic redwood trees, Lauren and Dain’s wedding ceremony was simply breathtaking. The couple always knew they wanted to get married on top of a mountain, and Glacier Point, in California’s Yosemite National Park, was the ultimate spot.
With such a majestic wedding location, Lauren’s bridal look needed to be both beautiful and practical. Her flowy lace gown was lightweight and featured godets, so she could easily climb mountains and bush walk on the day. As for accessories, Lauren wore our GABRIEL crown, which beautifully echoed the surrounding wildlife, with its clusters of clay flowers, crystal foliage and bohemian vibe. Comfortable footwear was also a must. She finished off her bridal look with very practical, brown lace-up boots!
Lauren and Dain wanted their wedding to be romantic, adventurous, outdoorsy and intimate. The stunning vistas of waterfalls, giant sequoia trees, wildlife and cliffs at Yosemite National Park fulfilled this wedding-day vision, and gave their guests a truly unique experience.
“When I first met Dain, I was not adventurous or an ‘outdoorsy’ person,” says Lauren. “Two years after dating he took me to Yosemite, CA and I fell in love! I hadn’t been since I was about four or five years old and was in awe of Yosemite’s beauty as soon as we entered the park. We had dinner at The Majestic Yosemite Hotel and I saw a couple getting married there, and I joked that we should get married there someday. Who knew that seven years later, we would?”
Time, consideration and an open mind went into creating Lauren’s gorgeous bridal look. Every detail, from the dress, to the accessories and hairstyle, was well thought through, to accentuate Lauren’s natural beauty. Her lace dress was flowy and elegant and featured chiffon godets at the bottom and buttons down the back.
“My husband always tells me my backside is one of the reasons he fell in love with me, so I knew I had to have a mermaid silhouette to show off my curves,” says Lauren. “The lace in my dress is actually flowers if you look close enough. I loved how the GABRIEL crown had gorgeous white flowers that matched my dress so perfectly. My dress also had no beading whatsoever, so I wanted something with a little bling. The crown was a modern yet timeless approach to the trendy flower crown. The pearls in the crown added an extra vintage look, which I loved. I wanted a boho feel to my hair. So, I went on Pinterest a lot!”
She decided on a half up hair style, with a modern braid and curls, topped with the GABRIEL crown.
“Tania Maras is amazing. She really does makes a little something for everyone. An extra special piece of jewellery or a headpiece to have on your wedding day makes the look. Also, I love the idea of having something to pass down to my daughter one day and this headpiece will be one of those things.”
“My advice is, don’t worry so much about pleasing other people. I feel like weddings have really gotten out of hand. There is a reason smaller weddings are the new trend. We wanted our wedding to be about us! We hand selected the people that shaped our relationship and made us the people we are today and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My second piece of advice is getting an amazing photographer. There are some things on a wedding I would say skimp on, a photographer is not one of those. For my husband and I, our pictures were the most important thing, so finding a great photographer was at the top of our list. Lastly, relax… remember you are doing this because you love each other. Have fun with it!”
