Lace is innately feminine, romantic and effortlessly elegant. Whether your wedding gown features delicate Chantilly lace, intricate Alencon, or bold Guipure lace, the textures and details inherent in lace fabric can sometimes make you feel that simpler accessories are better, but this isn’t necessarily true. The key is to balance the intricate details of the lace with complementary accessories that add just the right amount of sparkle, texture and style. If you’re wondering how to accessorise a lace wedding dress in a way that’s cohesive and beautiful, we’re here to share our styling tips to help you pull together your bridal look.
Lace fabric is often made up of repeated curves or lines which form to create a distinctive pattern. Don’t let these intricate details overwhelm you. Instead, look to see if you can find any clear patterns or shapes that you like such as scalloped details, eyelash edging or floral or leaf motifs. When choosing accessories for your lace wedding dress, you can mimic or accentuate these details by bringing them into your hair piece or veil.
If your dress features floral patterns with distinct 5 petal flower shapes, choose a hairpiece with flowers which features a similar shaped flower. This can also be applied to leaf patterns or geometric shapes.
How to accessorise a lace wedding dress is easy with the addition of classic pearls. Timeless bridal styling often brings together a lace wedding gown with a pearl necklace. While a pearl necklace may not be your style, incorporate pearls into your look with a modern pearl wedding veil, pearl bridal headpiece or pearl drop earrings.
Pearls scattered across a wedding veil will add a touch of whimsy with contemporary appeal.
When done correctly, adding floral details to a lace wedding gown can look next-level chic.
The beauty of florals lies in its natural ability to instantly add dimension to a flat lace pattern in a way that feels like a natural extension of the fabric. You can incorporate floral details through statement earrings, flower details hand-beaded onto a veil or fresh flowers pinned into your hair.
Matching lace with lace doesn’t need to be an exact science but it’s important that the colours are complementary and the aesthetics match.
If your dress features a heavy lace, contrast this with a similar pattern in a smaller or lighter format. Where your lace pattern is heavily floral or leaf based, bring these motifs into your veil with embellished motifs.
The simplicity and clean lines of a raw edge veil will let your lace wedding gown take centre stage. If your veil features no details or embellishments, the silhouette of your veil will be important to ensure it enhances the dress. Depending on the cut of your veil, it can either elongate your silhouette or draw attention to distinctive lines such as the natural waistline or where the train starts to flare out.
Add infinite elegance and shimmer to your bridal look with sparkly crystal details. Similar to pearls, crystals pair perfectly with lace details. Whether the crystals are applied to your wedding veil, featured in your headpiece or drop earrings, crystals will add a luxurious finish to your dress.

We took a lace wedding cape to a whole new level for bride Alexandra. We transformed the untamed floral details of our RIVIERA veil and reimagined it to form the ultimate accessory to elevate the clean lines and sleek silhouette of her wedding dress.
The end result? A bridal cape that’s the perfect alternative to a wedding veil.
Alexandra’s vision was for a cape that accentuated her wedding dress with a long silhouette, reminiscent of a wedding veil. She loved our RIVIERA veil with its characteristic lace details, floral elements and scattered pearls. Completely hand embellished to perfection.
The details of Alexandra’s RIVIERA cape speaks of bold femininity and a timeless beauty with a contemporary twist. Bringing the essence of the veil into Alexandra’s cape felt like its natural evolution.
We loved working with Alexandra to bring together her bridal look and feel immense gratitude for the opportunity to bring her vision to life.

As a reflection to her coastal surroundings, hair stylist Anita Bauer captures the essence of Byron Bay with her coveted looks of relaxed updos, textured ponytails and soft glam waves. Her signature boho styling is shaping bridal hair trends for future brides, as she works her magic to create new looks that are romantic and relaxed.
While formalities and tradition are still important parts of wedding days, we’ve seen a shift towards more personalised weddings, where brides are inspired to embrace their individual style when it comes to creating their bridal look. The freedom to be relaxed and creative has led to a rise in boho bridal hair. This soft and effortless look is about creating movement and texture, with strands of hair escaping from buns, beachy waves, whimsical braids and floral detailing.
Anita is an expert in creating this look and we had the pleasure of collaborating with her for a recent photo shoot. We loved seeing our LYRIC and BLANCHETT headpieces styled with her unique spin. If you’ve also fallen in love with this look, Anita is currently styling brides across Byron Bay, the Tweed region and Gold Coast.

The most valuable advice: go with your intuitive feeling! The dream dress you choose will set the mood for the ‘overall look.’ Choosing a hairstyle to complement face shape and hair type is also really important. Keep in mind weather too! Based in Byron our warmer months are hot and beach weddings can be windy! A loose up style or textured pony are great options. Gather a collection of inspiration images to share and discuss the suitability with your hair stylist. Have fun with your style and enjoy being able to create a look that feels like you!
Hair trials are an important part of the planning process! I love to team up hair and make up trials together which allows each bride to experience the ‘overall look.’ That’s the key, being able to see the visions from a picture translated to a look that complements and enhances the bride. It is the perfect time to try style options that aren’t worn on a daily basis, like an effortless textured updo or glam glossy waves. Experiencing the final style and feeling reassured that it is ‘The Look’, along with having spent the time getting to know your stylist, creates ease and confidence on the big day!
Being one of the most important day’s of a woman’s life, the most asked question when determining the hair style is “Does this look and feel like me?” Ultimately the style will reflect the bride’s personal taste, enhance her features and complement the aesthetic of the wedding day. Deciding whether a hairpiece will complement the style, whether it be fresh flowers, a veil, clips or decorative pins is also a popular question. What to do to achieve the look is an important consideration. This may require hair extensions, creating shape in the hair cut, freshening the colour or general hair maintenance.

Soft glam waves, loose effortless half up styles, low textured updos and the new wave of the high buns are all in for the season. The pony is always a favourite and is worn low, either sleek or voluminous and textured. I am also loving beautiful hair details with pearls and soft petals, intricate hair pieces and statement veils to complete the modern day bride.
I love a textured up style that is soft, ‘done’ but ‘un-done’ and relaxed. The finer details are important which makes the style special. I do love a braid or twist and finishing off the style with anti-frizz gloss gives the wow factor!

Just outside Winnipeg in Canada’s scenic Manitoba region, lies Pineridge Hollow, a wedding venue set on acres of gardens, ponds and flowers. As her name suggests, Jasmine was attracted to this setting for her special day. Jasmine and Joel’s ‘Romantic Garden’ wedding was all about creating a relaxed and wholesome day and spending quality time with their family and friends.
Jasmine glowed amongst the lush foliage, with her husband by her side, her beautiful smile and flowy lace and chiffon dress. She adorned her hair with our VERSE hair comb, the pearl and crystal sprigs and clay flowers added sparkle and echoed the picturesque surroundings.
As it was one of the few times both Jasmine and Joel’s family were together in the one place, they made a special effort to create a relaxed and enjoyable party, so that they had time to interact and catch up with loved ones.
“I wanted our family and friends to feel relaxed and enjoy their time with us. I never wanted strict timelines packed with bouquet tosses, garter tosses, or a million speeches (so we simply didn’t do them).” says Jasmine.
They pulled back on the formalities, but added cultural traditions to personalise their day.
“I’m Filipino, and it was important for me to include a traditional ceremony with the veil, candle, coins, and cord. Each item represents something in our marriage.”
An avid researcher, Jasmine always does the legwork before deciding on anything. And her wedding was no exception.
“For my wedding, my researching went into hypergear. Instagram was always a good place to find some inspiration and to see how other brides styled their looks. I found Tania Maras on Pinterest and it was the style I was striving to achieve, so I kind of just went from there. I absolutely adored all the styled shoots Tania did, from the dresses to the hairstyles. Something about it just seemed timeless and organic.”
Jasmine was attracted to her Truvelle dress because it was designed and made in Canada, she loved the lace bodice and skirt, plus it was super comfortable!
“All the other dresses I tried on felt too constricted, or were itchy, or too heavy. I was worried I’d be too self conscious in other dresses that were curve hugging. I loved A line skirts because they made me feel taller (although I should give up since my husband is 6’2”) and the skirt flowed so beautifully. My aunt told me after the ceremony, ‘this dress is so you!’ with a bright smile, and truthfully, it was. It was feminine and romantic, everything I was looking for.”
When it came to hair styling, Jasmine knew she needed an updo (to handle the hot and humid Canadian summer) and a Tania Maras headpiece was also a must.
“Tania had everything I was aiming for: the timeless, whimsical, delicate and feminine pieces were unlike any other I had seen before. I chose the VERSE because I knew it would be timeless (I wanted to find something that I was going to pass on through generations). I also wanted something that wasn’t too big either. It was honestly so hard for me to finally pick one that I liked the most because I wanted them all!”
“Things book up really fast where I’m from, so book the ‘big’ things first. We nailed down our venue and photographer first, because those were the biggest things for us. Joel was especially keen about finding the perfect photographer because, as he says, ‘the pictures are the only things that will last of our wedding’. In a day that goes by so fast, the pictures are our only window for us to precisely remember everything that happened.”
Unlike traditional wedding veils, a drop veil is made from a single layer of tulle or lace that drapes gracefully over your head and shoulders, creating a soft, ethereal look. However, securing a drop veil can be a bit tricky due to its simple and delicate design. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to properly secure a drop veil, ensuring it stays in place throughout your special day.
Before diving into the securing process, it’s important to understand the design of a drop veil. This type of veil can be requested with a comb or with no comb or clip sewn onto it. For veils without a sewn in comb, the lack of a built-in attachment can mean you’ll need to secure the veil with pins to keep it in place.

The first step to securing a drop veil is preparing your hair. Your hairstyle plays a crucial role in how the veil will sit and stay in place. Here are a few considerations:
Once your hair is styled, it’s time to place the veil. Follow these steps for a perfect fit:
To keep the drop veil in place, you’ll need to use hairpins or bobby pins. Here’s how:
Comfort is key on your wedding day, so make sure the veil is securely fastened without being too tight or causing discomfort. Here are some tips:

Soft waves and wedding hair go hand in hand. The updated look would feel at home on the red carpet with a touch of bohemian styling. A little bit imperfect, a touch of effortless chic, add a bit of volume and texture to mess things up a bit.

A classic look that will never fade. You’re guaranteed to see many textured updos this wedding season. The defining look will be a low set upstyle finished with soft tendrils around the face. Personalise your look with an assortment of texture, braids or twists. Think full messy buns, tousled French twists and simple low updos. If you’re looking to capture a romantic vibe, you can never have too much volume. Or braids. There’s a reason why braids continue to find their way down wedding aisles. They’re the ultimate in romantic detailing, they add texture and beautifully capture the mood of a wedding day.

Who says straight hair is just for everyday? The Kardashians, Gigi Hadid and numerous runway shows have inspired sleek and straight hairstyles. The thing we love the most about straight wedding hairstyles is they’re the perfect balance of modern and sleek styling with an effortless vibe.
The reality to achieving a straight wedding hairstyle may not be as simple as first thought. Straight hairstyles do require some work with preparation to ensure minimal flyaways and of course your hair must be in great condition to begin with. But if you can tick both of these boxes, this is a next level look. A must have? A middle part and hair tucked behind the ears for a look says elevated modern luxe.
Minimalist bridal looks feel effortless and will continue to be seen down the aisle for years to come.

Middle parts are here to stay and we love them more than ever. This season, we’ll see more middle parts on voluminous soft waves, sleek updos, beach bridal hairstyles and everything in between.

There’s something so feminine and chic about a ponytail and we will continue to see textured ponytails this season. The look is less cheerleader and more effortless chic, with volume at the crown and pulled back into a ponytail above the nape of the neck.

Over the last few months our studio has begun to somewhat resemble a haberdashery store, as beautiful bundles of lace trims started arriving at our doorstep. Beaded, corded, stitched and sequinned – soon the cutting table (and our head space) was filled with laces and possibilities, as we began designing and creating pieces for our newest collection.
We are excited to release the Paloma collection. Paloma is the Spanish word for ‘dove’. We took inspiration from these beautiful creatures, along with the exotic styles and aesthetics of the Mediterranean. Designer and Creative Director, Tania Maras, designed these new pieces to have a staring role in your bridal look. Feminine, dramatic and utterly romantic, this collection includes decadently embellished accessories, featuring laces, beading and florals.
“The Paloma Collection is inspired by birds of flight that roam the earth and sky. Peaceful yet powerful, the collection features statement wedding capes, veils, earrings and hair pieces to showcase the beauty of the free-spirited bride,” says Tania.

We photographed the collection at Mrs Fray Bridal Concept Store, a light and airy bridal boutique in Canberra. The earthy tones and magical lighting in the store made for some beautiful backdrops. The boutique stocks dresses by Karen Willis Holmes and Prea James Bridal (along with others), which we styled with our accessories.
A talented team of creatives brought our vision to life. Tania’s talented brother, Martin Maras alongside Hayden Sault, beautifully captured the mood of the collection. We also had the expertise of Kate Lily, on hair, and Jessica Peris, on makeup. Plus the beautiful Tahlia Toth modelled the pieces with grace and style.
With Señorita, by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello playing in the background, we channelled ‘Spanish princess’ vibes during the day, to help capture the regal and exotic mood of the collection. Previously, the brand focused on pairing veils with headpieces. As an alternative, this collection is about showcasing how lace capes and statement earrings can be styled together for stunning results. Along with capes and earrings, we’ve also released new birdcage veils, crowns, headbands and hairpins, which can transform a simple dress into something very special.

SPECIAL THANKS TO…
Bride Olivia dreamed of her wedding day with husband Jack to be “bursting with beautiful blooms”. With thoughtful styling and colour coordinating, their wedding flowers were even better than she imagined. Their floral arches, bouquets and centrepieces were truly beautiful and romantic, complementing the sentiment of the day.
The flowers weren’t your classic baby’s breath either – orchids, roses and pampas grass were used in the arrangements to create a look that was dreamy and modern. This theme ran throughout the wedding, especially in Olivia’s bridal look. She wore a figure-hugging, sparkly lace gown and our TEMPEST crown with delicate crystal and pearl details. She was surrounded by a tulle aura, with the MARAIS veil completing her divine look.
Olivia and Jack married at The War Memorial, a historic lakefront venue in Michigan, USA. The venue boasts formal gardens, a ballroom and a striking facade for the ceremony backdrop.
“The War Memorial attracted me because it looks like an estate in France, which goes along with the romantic vibe I desired,” says Olivia.
The venue styling was understated and elegant, with a soft neutral palette and warm pops of colour.
“I also really liked the way that everything didn’t totally match… I didn’t want to have specific ‘wedding colours’, instead, I wanted a soft palette where everything was cohesive yet not matchy-matchy,” she says.
Along with the beautiful floral displays, another special detail for Olivia was the wedding favours. She printed out tags with some of her favourite love poems and tied them around little bottles of Casa Migos (Olivia and Jack’s favourite tequila).
Olivia’s natural goddess-like beauty was elevated in her flowy lace gown with soft drapes and her golden accessories.
“I knew I didn’t want a ‘classic’ bridal look – I wanted something a little sexier, something with sparkle and texture. I loved Inbal Dror’s styles and found they fit my body very well. When I saw the perfect gown hanging in the sample basement of a local bridal boutique, I knew it was the one!”
Our gold TEMPEST crown featuring freshwater pearl cluster and crystal vines, along with the sleek and floaty MARAIS veil, further emphasised Olivia’s heavenly presence.
“A gold detailed crown-meets-headpiece was something I always wanted since it is the perfect combo of boho and regal. I discovered Tania Maras on Pinterest and loved the way they styled their accessories in a modern way. Since my dress was so intricate, I didn’t want the veil to compete, which is why the MARAIS veil was perfect.”
“Start early, because the details really add up to one ‘wow’ moment if you have time to think through it all! And make sure you really articulate what you want with vendors. Our vendors were so great at taking our preferences into account while still using their artistry and genius to create a wedding that was even better than we imagined,” says Olivia.
If you find yourself in this situation, don’t panic. There are several ways to recover from a bad pre-wedding haircut and ensure you look stunning on your big day. In this post, we’ll provide tips and advice to help you manage and fix a bad haircut before your wedding.
The first step is to stay calm, well, as much as possible. Panicking won’t help the situation, and it’s important to approach the problem with a clear mind. Take a close look at the haircut and determine what exactly do you dislike about it? Too short? Uneven? Identifying the specific issue will help you and your stylist come up with a plan to fix it.
If you’re unhappy with your haircut, it’s essential to communicate your concerns with your hairstylist. Clearly explain what you don’t like about the haircut. Use specific terms, and if possible, bring reference photos to illustrate your desired look. Ask your stylist for suggestions on how to improve the cut. They may recommend trimming certain areas, adding layers or incorporating styling techniques to achieve a more flattering look.
Hairstylists are professionals and should be willing to help you find a solution. Talk to you stylist about how the bridal hairstyle you had chosen for your wedding day can still be achieved considering the recent hair cut.
Braids are are perfect way to tuck away a fringe or shorter lengths of hair. They look beautiful with shoulder length or even a chin length bob. Finish off the look with some simple hair pins or a delicate hair vine and nobody will be any the wiser of your recent haircut mishap.
If your hair has been cropped to shoulder length, an updo is very achievable. You might be naturally inclined to style your hair into the tightest ponytail possible to hide it from sight. But with a few twists to that ponytail, you’re on your way to a petite bridal bun which will look polished, chic and catwalk worthy.
Prefer a messier hairstyle? Your hairstylist may be able to work hair padding or a hair donut into your hair to add fullness and texture.
A simple Google search for hair extensions will show endless results for hair extensions that can arrive quickly at your doorstep. Chat to your hairstylist first about what colour and length would best work for your hairstyle and the look you’d like to achieve.
A short hairstyle can be instantly transformed into a beautiful long ponytail or full updo with the help of strategically placed extensions discreetly worked into your hair.
If coverage is what you’re after, an embellished veil with 3D floral or lace details, or a full wedding veil will provide coverage as well as a beautiful accent that will instantly define your look.

For bride Bronte nothing beats the Aussie countryside, with its sweeping hills, fragrant eucalyptus trees and striking red dirt. While her husband Justin is a water baby, he loves the pristine white sand beaches along the coastline. For their wedding, they found the perfect compromise. A venue located on the NSW Tweed coastline, right in between the ocean and valley.
The scenery, combined with Bronte’s bridal look, made for some truly beautiful photos. She wore a classic white gown and our statement RIVIERA veil. The delicate florals, lace motifs and scattering of pearls cascaded down Bronte’s hair and shoulders and billowed behind her in the breeze. She looked ethereal amongst the native plants and lush woodland. Her bridesmaids beautifully coordinated with her, wearing our ROSA hair pins in their up dos.

The first (and only!) venue Bronte and Justin viewed was Summergrove Estate. The estate has panoramic views of the ocean and valley and is set up for chapel and garden ceremonies and restaurant and barn receptions. The barn in particular, was very special to Bronte and Justin.
“Both Justin and I wanted our reception in a barn, and Summergrove Estate were building our dream barn, almost like it was being built for us! It was white and huge and modelled on the big American style barns, in other words, it was exactly what we were looking for. We both loved the polished concrete floors, exposed beams and hanging Edison globes,” says Bronte. “We also wanted an outdoor ceremony which Summergrove offered and Justin wanted to be married on top of a hill (don’t ask me why) which again Summergrove gave us the opportunity to do.”
It’s clear from the photos alone that Bronte was truly in her element at the Estate.
“I was born in Brisbane and raised in Cairns but if I could convince Justin to move a few hours west into the country I would in a heartbeat. You couldn’t find a vista I loved more than rolling countryside, some Aussie bush and red dirt. The smell, the fresh, crisp air, the fact that you can see all the stars, nothing beats the country! (I sound like a country girl, don’t I?).”
For bridal inspiration, Bronte browsed Hello May, Vogue magazine and photos of her friends weddings. Ivy Road, Tania Maras and Babushka Ballerina Instagram feeds also all helped Bronte narrow down her style. She chose a simple, classic white gown by Daisy Brides.
“One of the biggest factors in choosing my dress and my main reason for keeping my dress so simple and classic was because I knew my head wear would be the star. Whether it was a stunning headband or a veil, I wanted something nobody would have seen before and that was a real ‘wow’ factor. When Tania suggested the RIVIERA veil (I emailed her for some help choosing), I knew this would be my wow factor and dare I say it, I love it more than my dress. It’s so ‘me’!”
The RIVIERA veil features organza flowers with hand beaded pearl and crystal centres, amongst lace details and a scattering of pearls. The veil is textural, sparkly and beautifully completed Bronte’s look.
“The RIVIERA veil was my perfect ‘wow’ accessory. It was long, it was light, but most importantly that stunning flower and pearl detail. My dress needed some details and the veil delivered that. I wanted something that would float behind me and look stunning in pictures and I knew the RIVIERA veil would,” says Bronte.
“My tip would be stay true to yourself, find accessories that show your personality and make your outfit shine with you! I love a simple gown with ‘wow’ accessories, but if you go for a more intricate ‘wow’ gown then make sure your accessories complement that gown and don’t clash.”
Bronte selected the ROSA hair pins as accessories for her two bridesmaids, to tie in with her look. The ROSA hair pins feature organza flowers with pearl and crystal details, attached to metal hair pins for styling flexibility and are perfect for adding a flourish to hair styles.
The pins were styled on the bridesmaids in a low set bun and looked striking against their dark hair.
“My tip would be stay true to yourself, find accessories that show your personality and make your outfit shine with you! I love a simple gown with ‘wow’ accessories, but if you go for a more intricate ‘wow’ gown then make sure your accessories complement that gown and don’t clash.”
“Have fun with it, try not to let it stress you out (easier said than done). Make compromises with each other. Don’t rush into any choices, take the time to look around and see your options. Stay organised, have some kind of system for tracking vendors, design ideas, payments etc. Most importantly, make the day say ‘you’, pick vendors, venues and outfits that really show you as a couple and your personalities,” says Bronte.
